In the first year, students are required to take eight courses, of which four are compulsory, and of which the remaining four are chosen from a list of elective courses. The four compulsory courses cover microeconomic and macroeconomic theories, quantitative and research methods. These courses enable students understand frontier concepts and analytical techniques in economics as well as applying analytical methods to examine and study economic issues. The other elective courses are chosen from various standard sub-fields in economics. |
